Derek started his working life more than three decades ago at his father’s Ringwood manufacturing business, Wilson Hot Water. It was there he learnt the basics of the boiling water business from the ground up. Over the course of 15 years or so Derek took on a range of roles in the company including sales and purchasing, the actual assembly of the units and then maintenance, repair and installation of boiling water systems.
Eventually, however, it came time for him to branch out and fulfil his long-held dream to establish his own business and in 2007, Melbourne Boiling Water was born. In the years since the business has grown from a tiny one-man operation to a thriving family owned and operated enterprise. In 2013, his then wife Janet, took on the administration of the growing business and few years later the couple’s middle son, Aaron joined them.
Aaron showed an aptitude for the trade from the get-go and with Derek’s decades of experience to guide him, Aaron has in the past seven years grown from an inexperienced school leaver to a confident and competent tradesman in his own right. Today, the father-son duo can rightly claim to be amongst the most experienced team in Melbourne when it comes to the maintenance, repair and installation of boiling water systems and water chillers.
